2013 marks the 85th anniversary of Sousa’s Golden Jubilee tour with performances in Aberdeen, Brookings, and Sioux Falls. Keith Brion occupies a most unique niche in the music world with his interpretation of the persona of John Philip Sousa in the 1920s. Brion leads his New Sousa Band in re-creations of Sousa band concerts of that era, and does so with meticulous attention to programming, interpretation, and even Sousa’s mannerisms.

Formerly director of bands at Yale University, Brion has led a number of orchestras and bands, including the Stockholm Symphonic Wind Orchestra, New York City’s Goldman Band, The California Wind Orchestra, and the Allentown Band. He has also performed with military bands, such as the U.S. Marine Band, Army Field Band, Army Band, Coast Guard Band and the Army Band of Europe in Heidelberg, Germany. Brion has also presented “Sousa revival concerts” with leading American orchestras, including the Boston Pops, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the St. Louis, Dallas, Milwaukee Symphonies.
