Trumpeter Charles Seipp will be the Artist-in-Residence for the 2013 Bandmaster’s Conference. Seipp has performed extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad as a member of The U.S. Army Band, “Pershing’s Own”, having risen to the rank of Sergeant Major and the position of Element Leader for the Concert Band. Sergeant Major Seipp has performed with the Army Band since 1980 and participated in numerous events of national significance over a period spanning thirty years. Recently retired, he is now teaching trumpet at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He performed with the Ceremonial Band, Herald Trumpets, and Brass Quintet and has been featured numerous times as soloist with the Concert Band, Orchestra, and Brass Band.

Seipp most recently toured and recorded solo trumpet and organ repertoire throughout Europe with world-renowned organist Diane Bish – appearing also on her Joy of Music television series as soloist. He is a native of Akron, Iowa, and holds the Bachelor of Music Education degrees from the University of Kansas and two performance degrees from Catholic University of America. Through CJ Seipp Music Publications, he markets his own brass arrangements, some of which have been played and recorded by the Canadian Brass Quintet and The U.S. Army Brass Quintet.
